Here it is. This is where I am, who I am and what I see when I think of the future as a dance teacher and studio owner. This is my vision...
I see dancers. My dancers. Your dancers, The dancers at the studio down the street... Dancers who know where we come from. Dancers who understand the art of dance. Dancers who aren't just good at technique, but are also invested in their dance education. And when I say invested I'm not really talking about the investment their parents have made in their dance lessons. I'm talking about the dancers who have poured their heart and soul into learning every aspect of dance. Every little detail about where we came from, where we're going and who did what to move our art form in a positive direction.
And I'm willing to bet that you are one of those dancers. That's what led you to teaching dance and/or owning a dance studio, right? I am absolutely one of those dancers. And, I want every dance student to become one too. That's where my heart is. That's what I'm all about. And I think you are too. I think you teach dance or own a dance studio because you want to see dancers love dance as much as you do.
When I think of the future of dance, I envision dancers who love it as much as I do. As much as you do. And I want your dance students and my dance students to grow up to become professional dancers, dance teachers, studio owners, choreographers and dance patrons who will share their love for dance and pass it on to the next generation of dancers.
I will consider myself successful if I touch the lives of dance students (or help you to touch their lives) in a way that creates lifelong lovers of dance. So much of what we do is passed down from generation to generation and it's our responsibility to keep that tradition going and to build on it.
I found my calling. I was called to serve in this way - to reach out and bring every dance student along, as we evolve as dancers. To find a way to help every dance teacher give more to their dancers. My vision is every dance student will fall in love with dance and keep dance as a part of their lives, whether it's dancing as a career or supporting dance in their community. I'm here for the love of dance. It's my "why". And I bet it's probably yours too. Let's go out into our dance world and share our love of dance.
